Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012)

‍About this course

Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies.

This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school-age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

Units of competency

‍Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399‍ ‍

  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

  • HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

‍Course delivery

‍This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course online learning is required.

‍Course duration​

Pre-Course Online Learning 2 hours

Face to Face minimum duration is 4.5 hours.‍ ‍

Assessment requirements​

Assessment including CPR and First Aid techniques will be a requirement on training day.

Course renewal requirements​

The statement of attainment is valid for 3 years*.

*Please note that the CPR component of the training is valid for 12 months and should be updated annually.
